FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE December 2008 - Lyndhurst, NJ Bruce Henderson, Principal and COO of HazTek, Inc., discussed the “Benefits of Contractor Safety Management” with the Northern New Jersey Federal Safety & Health Council at their quarterly meeting held on December 3rd, 2008 in Lyndhurst, NJ. Citing the risks associated with multiple contractors on construction sites, Bruce outlined how to reduce accidents and illnesses by identifying contractors with similar safety values and setting safety expectations up front in the qualification process. Formalizing and proactively managing a comprehensive, site-wide safety and health program will not only allow the project to run more smoothly, but can actually save money through a more accurate bidding process that results in less project overruns and reduced or eliminated injury and illness costs. The Northern New Jersey Federal Safety & Health Council is established by OSHA as a non-profit Field Federal Safety and Health Councils (FFSHCs). FFSHCs sponsor training seminars and coordinate shared occupational safety and health (OSH) resources and expertise to local businesses and organizations to further OSHA's commitment to workplace safety and health. December's meeting was sponsored by the NJ Glass & Metal Contractor’s Association and also featured presentations on OSHA updates, NJ business cooperatives, and the Silica Partnership.
